I can't believe that our sweet baby has already been with us for 9 days! Sorry it's taken me so long to post, but who wants to blog when they can be hanging out with this cute guy!? Chase and I are loving every second of being parents. If you can believe it, we even like hearing his cry. As my sister-in-law put it, he has the cutest "tough guy cry". It's so deep! I can't help but laugh a little when he really gets going. So far he's doing really well. He's on a good eating schedule and only wakes up once in the middle of the night to eat. (Thank you Baby Wise!) We'll keep our fingers crossed that things don't change.
Everyone has been asking me how the delivery went. Honestly it wasn't too bad. Monday night Chase and I went to bed at about 11:00. For some reason I just wasn't that tired. I just laid in bed thinking about how excited I was to have this baby and to see what he looked like. I laid there thinking until about 2 am when I started having contractions. This wasn't too unusual since I had been having them in the middle of the night for about two weeks. It wasn't until about 4:00 when they really started to get bad, and at this point were coming about every 5 minutes. By this point, Chase was awake with me and helping me keep track of how much time was in between every contraction. It wasn't too long before they were coming about every 2 min. But I still wasn't convinced that this was really labor since I had experienced this, only to have it be false labor. I was scheduled for an appointment to see my doctor that morning at 9:10 and really wanted to wait for that to go in. By 8:00 I couldn't take it any more. It was time to go to the hospital. We got there and instead of going to labor and delivery, we just went to my appointment early. I really didn't want to go check in and have them tell me that I wasn't in labor and just to go home. I told the receptionist that I thought I was in labor but that I wanted to have my doctor check me before I headed downstairs. They got us back in a room pretty quickly and my doctor came in to examine me. I dilated to a 4 and all the way thinned out. Hallelujah! She sent me downstairs and they got me all ready to go. Within an hour I had my epidural and life was great! After the epidural, my doctor came down and broke my water. I progressed really quickly once that was done. By 11:00 or 12:00 I was already dilated to a 9. They said that I would be ready to start pushing soon. The nurse examined me only to find that our little guy was posterior, meaning he was face up instead of face down like he was supposed to be. They called my doctor down to have her turn him. Apparently he didn't like that a whole lot because within no less than a minute of her turning him, he had already turned himself back around! Can you say stubborn? So they turned him one more time and gave me a little while to see if he would stay that way. If not, we could opt to have a C-Section. (No Thank you. Not after I had been in labor this long. I would rather wait.) Luckily he decided to cooperate and stay the way he was supposed to. They finally had me start pushing a little after 4:00. After I had pushed a few times, we noticed that the babies heart rate would go down during my contractions. I would have to turn on my side in between pushes to get his heart rate back up. The doctor said that this was most likely because the babies cord was wrapped around his neck. She said that it wasn't a big deal because we were able to get it back up easily when I turned. Still this was a little scary. At 6:49 after about 2.5 hours of pushing, our perfect Ryder came to us. As soon as he was out, my doctor commented on how big he was. All during the end of my pregnancy, she has been telling me that I was going to have a small baby. I don't really think that 8 lbs is that small! Especially since Chase and I aren't the biggest people. I was thinking he would be more like 6.5 - 7 lbs. The only hard thing about the delivery was actually after the delivery. Ryder had a little bit of a temp when he was born and they had to take him from me up to the nursery for some tests and observation. That was probably the longest hour ever! Luckily everything was just fine and there was no reason for the temp. Baby Boy was nice and healthy. I can't even describe how much we love this guy. It's incredible! I am so grateful to have Ryder here and a part of our little family.

Update
39 Weeks
I thought I better update everyone on what's been going on... Not a dang thing!! The last two times I have gone to the doctor to be checked, there hasn't been much change, if any change at all. Talk about frustrating! And the real kicker is that I've been having contractions on and off (mostly in the middle of the night) for the past week. Too bad they aren't getting me any closer to having this baby. I tell you what... He's pretty much worn out his welcome!
So I had another appointment today and the doctor said that if he doesn't come on his own that they will induce me on Friday the 17th. Apparently IHC has a policy that they won't induce first time Mommas any sooner than 7 days past their due date. They just want to see if they will be able to go into labor on their own. So my doctor gave me the option of going in on Thursday at midnight, or waiting until 5am on Friday morning. I say the sooner the better! Plus I think Chase and I will have a much easier time getting ourselves to the hospital at midnight than at 5am! Really I'm just hoping that we won't even have to worry about all of that and I will just go into labor on my own. Preferably sometime soon... Like now would be good! Wish me luck!

My husband- little boy at heart
It was so nice out today and we just had to take advantage of it! We headed over to the park with Chase's friend Tyler and his little boy Thatcher so that the boys could play with their remote control cars.
These are no ordinary remote control cars... they're gas powered, and they're way fast. It was actually pretty fun to watch.
